What's Here ...

300+ Pages of Tips, Macros & Templates

More than 100 WordPerfect for Windows macros and templates ... free for the downloading in the library. (This site is supported solely by donations.)

Blue bullet Hundreds of WordPerfect for Windows tips on the main tips page and related pages. (An alphabetical list of related tips pages - those that deserve more than a paragraph or two - can be browsed here.)

The tips on this site are for a wide range of people, from beginners to advanced users. However, many of the methods are for intermediate and advanced users. You can simply skip over the advanced ones until you are more comfortable with the program.

If you are new to WordPerfect you should consider obtaining a good book on the basic features of the program, such as those listed below. Such books usually pay for themselves many times over by decreasing frustration and increasing productivity. Once you learn the basics, advanced information on this site will be more useful to you.

Blue bullet Lots of free items from other authors, such as John Land Esq.'s excellent collection of 160+ macros designed for law firms (and other users).

Blue bullet Many of the above are downloadable ZIP files or PDF files. (What to do with them? See below.)

Recent Uploads ... free!

Blue bullet HiLite
Five macros to assist in finding and highlighting words or phrases, apply (or replace) different highlight colors in a document, etc. Updated 07/08/08 with code to detect the new redaction codes in WordPerfect X4.

Blue bullet NoteTools
A suite of six macros to navigate or convert footnotes and endnotes. Updated 02/29/08 with a new macro, LinkNotes, which creates "round-trip" hyperlinks to let you quickly jump between a particular footnote or endnote number in a WPD or PDF document to the footnote or endnote itself -- and vice versa -- with a mouse click.

Blue bullet Calendars (v1.04)
A suite of macros that create monthly and annual calendars, formatted using WordPerfect tables. Updated 02/27/08 with new options for the monthly calendar macro.

Blue bullet TabSet25 (v1.1)
A small macro that sets new tab stops every 0.25 inches, either at the very top of the document or starting at the current cursor location. You can also choose to set tabs Relative to the left margin or Absolute distances from the left edge of the page. Subsequent back tabs (<Shift+Tab>) allow outdenting text from the margin. Updated 12/19/07.

Blue bullet Code2Txt (v2.12)
A macro that can change text surrounded by WordPerfect format codes (e.g.,
[Bold On]...[Bold Off]) to text surrounded by user-defined plain-text markers (e.g., <B>...</B>) -- and vice versa. The first function is useful to convert WP format codes to HTML tags or to replace WordPerfect format codes with Folio, Ventura Publisher, InDesign, or Quark Xpress markup codes, etc. The second function does the reverse: It can convert user-defined text-markes to WP format codes. Updated 11/17/07.

Blue bullet Brackets (v1.01)
A customizable macro that creates an "outdented" table -- i.e., a table that extends slightly outside page margins -- with a large, full-height left and/or right border that simulates a large square bracket ( "[" and/or "]" ). It can be used to set off text for special purposes, such as to format "pull quotes" or editorial comment, or to indicate that several characters are speaking simultaneously in theater and opera manuscripts. Updated 10/30/07.

... and more that 100 other items in the Library.

Blue bullet Do you have the original release of WordPerfect 11 (i.e., version 11.0.0.233 as shown in Help > About WordPerfect)? See here for specific issues.

Blue bullet Note to Windows Vista users:  WordPerfect Office X3 with Service Pack 2 (i.e., 13.0.0.568 as shown in Help > About WordPerfect) or later versions/builds of WordPerfect are the only WordPerfect programs that Corel officially certifies will work properly under Vista. Earlier, fully patched versions/builds might work under Vista, but there is no guarantee this will be true on your system. For information on WordPerfect's versions and specific builds for each version (the four-part number above), and the various Corel Service Packs available, see here. For some personal notes on running WordPerfect 12.0.0.602 under Vista (which requires a small, downloadable Microsoft patch file [WinHlp32.exe] to allow earlier Windows Help files to work under Vista), see this post on WordPerfect Universe.
After an automatic Microsoft update to Vista appeared to have caused a serious system crash on my computer with Vista Ultimate installed on a separate partition -- it would not boot into VIsta and it could not be repaired from the Vista disc -- I removed Vista after eight months of light use. Restoring my system took almost two days. As a result, I will not be testing any tips, methods, templates, or macros under Vista until (and if) I get a computer with Vista pre-installed, which will probably be well into Vista's life cycle.

About ZIPs and PDFs:
The majority of these files are found inside compressed archive files (known as "ZIP" files; see
here for more). Just download the desired archive, saving it to any convenient directory or folder, and then uncompress ("unzip") the archive. The macro(s) then can be moved to your default or supplemental macros folder, template(s) to your template folder, etc. [...more...]

Some files are also in Adobe Acrobat format (.PDF), which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open them. You may already have it on your computer, but if not, click here to download this popular (and free) software directly from Adobe.
